9 Day Portugal Tour

PROGRAM

Day 1 - Guimarães and Peneda-Gerês

Guimarães is considered the birthplace of Portugal. The historical centre was classified a World Heritage Site, based on the originality and authenticity applied in its restoration.

Peneda-Gerês is the only National Park in Portugal and is considered by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve.

Day 2 - Douro Valley

The Douro Valley was the first demarcated and regulated wine region in the world.

The wild slopes of the valley transformed themselves, through the work of generations, in terraces to plant the vines that produce the famous Port Wine and this impressive landscape is considered World Heritage.

Visit an estate, with Port wine tasting.

Sailboat ride on the Douro River.

Day 3 - Serra da Estrela

Portugal’s highest mountain, Serra da Estrela is the star of our mountains, with its endless landscapes and glacial lagoons.

Serra da Estrela also means an exquisite gastronomy with the main highlight being Serra da Estrela Cheese, a product with protected designation of origin.

Day 4 - Alentejo

While to the north, the pace is set by the green of the flatlands, further south the landscape combines with the sun, the heat and a slower pace of life.

In Alentejo, the vastness of the landscape is dotted with cork oaks and olive trees that withstand time.

Évora´s long history and its urban centre, typical of the 16th to 18th centuries, that has been preserved to our days, lead UNESCO to classify the city as a World Heritage Site.

Day 5 - Algarve

A mild climate, a clear sea, fine white sand and good fresh fish and seafood: what else do you want? Therefore is Algarve a famous holiday destination.

Day 6 - South-west Alentejo Natural Park and Vicentina Coast

This is the longest stretch of protected Portuguese coast.

The beaches follow one another, some of them long swathes of sand stretching into the distance, others smaller, framed by magnificent schist and limestone cliffs.

Day 7 - Sintra and Lisboa

Sintra is a place full of magic and mystery, where nature and man have combined in such a perfect symbiosis that UNESCO has granted it Word Heritage Site status.

Lisboa, the capital of Portugal, is a city that makes you want to go exploring. It’s a safe and friendly city, old and modern. It is an iluminated city, always surprising.

We highly recommend visits to the Belém Tower and the Jerónimos Monastery, also both World Heritage sites. And don’t forget to taste the delicious Pastéis de Nata!

Dinner in a Fado restaurant.

Day 8 - Coimbra

Coimbra, one of Europe’s most ancient university cities has plenty to offer.

The University of Coimbra was classified by UNESCO as World Heritage Site.

Day 9 - Porto

Porto, a World Heritage city, was considered the Best European Destination in 2014 by the European Consumers Choice.

This city has not only ancient churches and monuments, but also modern buildings and a cosmopolitan downtown area.

A visit to the Port Wine Cellars cannot be missed!
